This is likely going to be a short post. I know I’ve been pretty bad about updating the past two weeks, even though I did have some topics to post.
The month of May could have been a lot better than April if it weren’t for the last two weeks of the month, which, I’ll admit was mostly my fault. The first two weeks of the month, I managed to complete 4 chapters. Then, the following week, I only worked one of those days, but I started and completed a chapter. A week later, I did the same thing. So, in total, I finished 6 chapters as opposed to the 8 I completed in April. I probably would have been able to complete another 2 chapters since I seem to be averaging about 2 per week, especially if there’s not a lot of plot that needs to be fixed.
During those first 2 weeks, however, I completed Act 2 of my novel. But the last 2 weeks of the month, I only managed to finish the first 2 chapters of Act 3. I know I should have kept going but since the final act of the novel has lots of plot points, I know I need to take my time to make sure it all fits together and makes sense. When I’m updating or fixing the plot, those are the chapters that take the longest. So, I decided to give my brain a rest and took a little time off at the end of the month.
Now it’s a new month and I’m ready to finish the final chapters before it ends. That’s my goal. I really want the revisions to be completed by the end of June. For some reason, if I don’t, then I need to finish in the first week of July before my birthday. I only have 9 chapters remaining, including the epilogue, so I’m hopeful that I’m able to finish by month’s end.
Obviously, the last 2 weeks affected my ability to update this blog. In hindsight, I should have spent that time away from my novel to focus on this instead. But with this new month brings new change. I have a new schedule and I am going to stick to it and, at minimum, I need to be posting once a week. My goal is to post twice a week, but we’ll see. That’s what I’m hoping.
That’s about all I have for now. It’s going to be a busy month but I’m determined to get back on track.
